As a heritage, gallery, museums and country home specialist, Chamberlain Solar Controls (CSC) has worked closely with architects, curators and estate managers over the past five decades on a range of projects – many of which have been at National Trust properties
One of the more interesting projects embarked on by CSC was at Osterley Park, where house & collections manager Ffion George was looking to protect not only the furnishings but also flooring whilst also using a new type of blind that allows visitors to see the beautiful gardens without jeopardising the light control inside.
A combination of Spectrally Selective Window Film UVX75, Black Out Blinds and Vision Sunscreen Blinds (utilising a unique double-blind system) was the solution to the issue. Due to the success of this project, many other National Trust properties have now adopted similar systems within their properties.
CSC was the first company of its kind to adopt the National Trust Code of Practice for Collections Conservation in Situ, a document created to ensure companies comply with the standards specified by the Trust.
This decision led the company to be awarded an exclusive contract to update all of the properties within The National Trust for Scotland, in addition to its ongoing work with the National Trust in other parts of the UK.
