DJW Projects Ltd explains how it celebrates at TEA THEA awards as Lynn Willrich receives Distinguished Service award
DJW Projects Ltd attended the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) THEA awards ceremony on 15th March at the Hilton Hotel Universal City, Los Angeles, California.
This is the TEA equivalent of the Oscars, for our Industry, where projects around the world are awarded a prestigious THEA award, in several categories such as a classic award, an award for a project on a limited budget, an International Live spectacular, a Museum Attraction or Immersive Technology and production, and many more.
Also presented were two THEA Catalyst awards, the Buzz Price THEA Award for a Lifetime of Outstanding Achievement and the Peter Chernack Distinguished Service award. Should you wish to read about the recipients please go to www.TEAConnect.org.
A very proud son and current member of the TEA International Board commented: “At the THEA’s on Saturday in LA, after several days of Inspiring case studies, I got to watch the highlight of my year with my father, David Willrich (Past International President 2016-2018 and TEA Master).
“Watching a room full of the biggest, best and brightest, genius people in our industry give a standing ovation to my mother, Lynn Willrich, walking up to receive this year’s Peter Chernack Distinguished Service award, having never asked or demanded a single thing from anyone, just helping a cause we all believe in, and for her, a wider cause of ‘just helping people’, isn’t going to be beaten this year. Her acceptance speech was as funny as it was graceful, ‘practically perfect in Lynn Willrich way’, to quote Mary Poppins!”
After declaring in her acceptance speech that she is no longer to be known as ‘David’s wife’ or ‘Chris’ Mum’ but that David will now be known as ‘Lynn’s husband’ and Chris as ‘Lynn’s son’, David commented “I could not be more proud of Lynn as she truly represents everything the award stands for.”
DJW were also very proud that another of their projects, Adventure Play at Windsor Great Park, won a THEA award; making that 6 THEAS awards in which we have been a part of the team.
