Vagina Museum appoints Chair of Trustees and permanent Director

The London museum names Stacey-Leigh Dolan as Chair of Trustees and Zoe Williams as permanent Director, who will continue preparation for a new exhibition on menopause.

London’s Vagina Museum has announced the appointment of a new Chair of Trustees and permanent Director.

Stacey-Leigh Dolan, who was recently announced as Manchester’s National Football Museum Head of Programmes, joins the Vagina Museum as Chair of Trustees.

Dolan previously served various roles at London Transport Museum, including Community & Participation Manager.

The museum has also made its Interim Director Zoe Williams its new permanent Director.

Williams has served as Head of Communications and Fundraising at the museum since 2019, and Interim Director since May 2024, following founder Florence Schechter stepping down from the role.

Director of Vagina Museum to step down

Among the new projects soon to launch at the Vagina Museum under their leadership is an exhibition exploring menopause in history, science and culture, titled Menopause: What’s Changed?

The Museum said it has “faced funding challenges” with the exhibition, set to open next year, for which it is still actively crowdfunding.

Stacey-Leigh Dolan, Chair of Trustees at the Vagina Museum, said: “I’m excited to use my community-driven experience to lead the Vagina Museum into a new era of stability.

“I’m aiming to grow the reach and impact of the Museum while maintaining its magic as a vibrant, welcoming, accessible and educational space for all.

“These are challenging times for the sector, and it will be a tough task to build resilience while delivering world-class, high-impact programming, but I am confident that the passionate and diverse team of staff and trustees will rise to the challenge.”
