The visitor figures come from the museum’s inaugural ‘Football Creates Impact Report’ for 2023/24
The National Football Museum has revealed that its latest annual visitor figures have improved by 19% year on year.
As part of the museum’s inaugural ‘Football Creates Impact Report’ for 2023/24, the museum reports it counted 316,000 visitors, up 19% on the previous period.
The report details that of those visitors, 21% were from Greater Manchester, 43% from elsewhere in UK, and 36% from overseas.
The museum’s Chair Prof. John Brewer said: “The museum has come a long way in the last four years. Our visitor numbers are now exceeding those from before the pandemic”.

The museum’s Chief Executive Tim Desmond wrote in the report: “Our Impact Report marks the first step in our journey to improve the way we monitor and evaluate our social and cultural impact, ensuring we continue to deliver high quality outcomes for all our stakeholders.
The report also details a gross value add of total direct, indirect and induced and visitor economy impacts of £16.4m, an increase of 29% on the previous year.
Last year the museum also revealed a new logo and slogan.
