The museum is seeking a design team to create an engaging, accessible experience, blending physical artefacts with digital interpretation
The London Museum is planning a new immersive exhibition within the Vaults, a brick-vaulted basement space in the museum’s new home at the Victorian General Market building.
It is currently in search of an exhibition design team to develop the inaugural exhibition, which will display archaeological material not previously exhibited, incorporating both physical collections and digital interpretation.
The Vaults space was uncovered in 2019 during the early phase of the museums’s £437 million development project.
A year into the project, a contractor accidentally uncovered the network of subterranean brick vaults, which will now be part of the upcoming museum.
It is seeking designers who can create an accessible visitor experience using exhibition design, interpretation, and audio-visual elements with the space.
The appointed team will be required to provide a Lead Designer, a 3D Designer, a Graphic Designer, and expertise in integrating Audio-Visual elements, alongside other specialists.
The project is part of the museum’s broader redevelopment, which will see the institution relocate to its new Smithfield site and reopen in 2026.
