BALTIC and Wellcome Collection announce arts wellbeing podcast series collaboration

The BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art has teamed up with Wellcome Collection to create a podcast series exploring the topics of care and healing from art, health and science perspectives.

Launching on 25th November, each instalment of the For All I Care series will be presented by artist Nwando Ebizie and published monthly. The five-part run will probe ideas surrounding how to care and connect through conversations, artistic works and healing experiences.

“2020 has highlighted how essential community, stability and caring for ourselves and others are in our lives. At the same time, it has given us a lot to think about when it comes to our own fragility,” says a joint statement from Irene Aristizábal, BALTIC’s head of curatorial and public practice, and Kieran Swann, head of live programme at Wellcome Collection.

“That’s why we started this podcast – so we could draw on the perspectives and knowledge of great thinkers, to share thoughts on what care means and how we value it, and do it together at a time when we’re so separated. Hopefully, each episode might even feel like a little moment of healing in itself.”

The inaugural episode will explore a theme of The Mediated Body and will ask whether society can “start to see illness not as an individual but as a shared experience and enfold it into our understanding of everyday life”. Each subsequent instalment will focus on another distinct theme and draw on the experience of a range of contributors.

Dates for the diary

The final four episodes of the series will go live on:

Episode 2: 16th December 2020
Episode 3: 27th January 2021
Episode 4: 24th February 2021
Episode 5: 31st March 2021

Guests throughout the series will include writer, musician and artist Johanna Hedva; curator Bárbara Rodríguez Muñoz alongside writer, artist and community organiser Ted Kerr; and artist Helen Collard.

For All I Care will be accessible via the BALTIC and Wellcome Collection websites, iTunes, Spotify and other podcast platforms. A trailer for the series is available here.
