Design Museum COO confirmed as chair of Chiswick House trust

Lycia Lobo appointed to four-year term at Chiswick House & Gardens Trust following period as acting chair and several years as trustee.

Lycia Lobo, chief operating officer at the Design Museum, has been confirmed as chair of the board of trustees of Chiswick House & Gardens Trust, the independent charity that operates the 65-acre site in west London.

Lobo’s appointment was confirmed at the trust’s board meeting in March, following several years as a trustee. She has served as acting chair since summer 2025.

The appointment is for a four-year term and is approved by Hounslow Council and English Heritage, on behalf of which Chiswick House & Gardens Trust operates the site.

Lobo has experience as both a trustee and board chair across the heritage and cultural sector. She has worked with organisations including English Heritage, the V&A and Lyric Hammersmith Theatre. At the Design Museum, she oversees commercial activity, visitor services, technology, estates and capital projects.

The new chair of Chiswick House & Gardens Trust, said: “As a local resident, I have a deep appreciation of how important Chiswick House & Gardens is to our communities. Lobo is a Chiswick resident and chairs trading boards for Lyric Hammersmith Theatre and Queer Britain Museum. She is also a non-executive director for Opportunity Kensington Business Improvement District.
