Sweett Group, the global provider of professional services for the construction and management of building and infrastructure projects, is pleased to have been appointed as project manager for a two-storey extension to Lyme Regis Museum in Dorset.
Designed by George Vialls, the Lyme Regis Museum is a Grade II listed purpose-built museum dating from 1902 and is located behind modern, robust coastal defences on the seafront at the Dorset town of Lyme Regis.
David Tucker, the museum’s director said: “I’m very pleased to be working with Myles Clough and Cliff Barnes at Sweett Group.
“It’s very reassuring to have people joining the project who have such a thorough understanding of Build and Design matters.”
The extension, called the Mary Anning Wing, will be built in a contemporary style to include a multi-functional learning space, a refurbished palaeontology gallery, extended shop and ancillary facilities.
Mary Anning (1799-1847) was a famed fossilist whose discoveries where breakthroughs for geology and the museum is built on the site of her home.
“Sweett Group is delighted to be working on this important museum project,” said operations director, Cliff Barnes.
“With five offices in the South West region, we have a keen interest in ensuring our local museums are accessible to all.”
