Snow and icy weather have forced several UK museums, including Sheffield Museums, Then National Videogame Museum, and The Museum of Liverpool, to close temporarily.
The UK has been hit with a wave of snow and icy weather, leading to the temporary closure of several museums across the country today.
In the North of England, Sheffield Museums has announced the closure of all of its sites, and the National Videogame Museum, also in the city has closed citing bad weather.
Also forced to close today is The Museum of Liverpool, while other National Museums Liverpool sites had opened later than usual. All Bradford Museums & Galleries sites are closed, and the snow has led Leeds Museums & Galleries to close its sites Temple Newsam, Lotherton Hall and Leeds Industrial Museum.
West Chester Museums sites – Grosvenor Museum, Stretton Watermill, Weaver Hall Museum, Lion Salt Works and Chester History and Heritage – have also closed.

In the North East of England, Beamish Museum shared photos of its staff clearing the fallen snow, which meant the outdoor museum was able to open to visitors.
Thanks to our hardworking staff, who've been up early to clear snow from the museum footpaths, we're open as normal today! (10/03/23)

In the West Midlands, similarly treacherous weather has forced the closure of Black Country Living Museum and Stourbridge Glass Museum.

Yellow weather warnings were made today by the Met Office and continue tomorrow.
While the closures will no doubt be a disappointment to visitors, many museums have taken the opportunity to share items from their collections which relate to the snowy conditions.
