Small Grants Fund Awarded to seven Scottish museums

Grants up to £15,000 have been made to seven accredited museums across the country

Seven Scottish museums have been awarded capital as part of Museums Galleries Scotland’s Small Grants Fund.

The national development body for Scotland’s museum sector provides grants up to £15,000 to successful accredited museums.

Recipients in this round of funding include the culture, sport and leisure trust for the county of Angus, ANGUSalive. Its museums will use the funding to “increase its financial sustainability through strategically designing and curating the retail offering in their museums and galleries”.

Glenfinnan Station Museum will use the funding to continue its engagement with climate action through the creation of a permanent open-air exhibition space. The space will explain snow clearance methods of the past, whilst highlighting it in the context of Scotland’s current and future climate change.

Museums and Heritage Highland, a forum group for heritage organisations in the Highlands, will use the funding to support the growth, diversity, and strengthening of the museum workforce across the region.

Museums Galleries Scotland said the recipients chosen have strong links to its overarching strategy, which prioritises resilience, connection, and workforce.

The organisations awarded funding are:

Eyemouth Museum
ANGUSalive
Glenfinnan Station Museum
Timespan
Cromarty Courthouse Museum
