The Bradford museum will reveal its £6m revamp in 2025, ahead of a David Hockney exhibition and screenings of Wallace & Gromit

The National Science and Media Museum in Bradford has announced it will reopen on 8 January.

Closed last June for works readying it for Bradford City of Culture in 2025, it was previously set to reopen this Summer. The £6 million capital project called ‘Sound and Vision’, suffered delays caused by the construction of a new lift.

The reopening will be celebrated on Saturday 11 January 2025 with A Grand Day Out; a special with animation studio Aardman which will include screenings of Wallace & Gromit, model making workshops and more.

A new temporary exhibition David Hockney: Pieced Together opens on 15 January, showcasing the artist’s use of film and photography.

Ahead of the full reopening, the museum’s IMAX screen will reopen from Friday 20 December with screenings of Mufasa: The Lion King.
