Leading businesses in the museums and heritage sector are set to reveal their latest technologies and service solutions at the Museums + Heritage Show in London this May.
Alongside sessions from professionals and experts working the sector, visitors can expect businesses to present their AI applications, storytelling techniques, and digital tools at the two-day event, beginning on Wednesday 14th May 2025.
A selection of the more than 70 talks across multiple theatres at Museums + Heritage Show will feature representation from companies providing AI solutions, digital storytelling platforms, and collection management systems to heritage institutions.
AI and digital technologies from leading providers
Several key businesses will demonstrate how their AI-powered solutions are transforming visitor engagement and operational efficiency in museums and heritage sites.
John Boulding, chief marketing officer at Vox Group, will present ‘Breaking Language Barriers: The AI Revolution in Multilingual Guiding’, showcasing the company’s advanced translation technologies that enable visitors to experience tours in their native languages through AI-powered live translation.
Digital Venue’s Creative Director Nils Pokel will introduce the company’s conversational assistant technology, demonstrating how AI-powered digital guides function as ‘A Curator in Your Pocket’, offering personalised interactions with collections that extend beyond traditional interpretation methods.
Storytelling products enhancing engagement
Complete Works will share some of the key learnings in storytelling which apply to the sector, with tips on how to translate key concepts, products, places and history into engaging stories which resonate with target audiences. George McLean, director of training and development, and Alyce Paton, regional director Scotland will share these tips in ‘Tales for Sales’.
Kristine Apsite, sales and marketing director at Frank Europe GmbH will explore how the company’s intelligent, nearly invisible display solutions enhance storytelling, strengthen conservation, and support sustainable exhibition design, bringing hidden collections into the light in ‘It’s What’s Inside That Counts – Innovative displays solutions for preserving and showcasing museum collections’.
The British Museum’s approach to exhibition innovation will be featured in ‘The Power of Pilot Projects: Experimental Exhibition Design at The British Museum’, where head of interpretation and volunteers Stuart Frost will join experts from Journey and Ralph Appelbaum Associates to demonstrate their agile methodology for testing digital storytelling techniques.
Collection management and digital asset solutions
The growing importance of robust digital infrastructure will be addressed by several technology providers specialising in collection management.
Maria Scherrers, account manager at Gallery Systems, will offer guidance in ‘How to Choose the Right CMS (Collection Management System)’ providing general guidance on CMS selection, with a focus on practical, educational content that helps attendees choose the best system for their needs.
Conservation technology will be featured in ‘Not Just for Framing’, where Andrew Haycock, International Museum & Conservation Liaison at Tru Vue, Inc., will explain the ways its products have been used by museums and galleries to help overcome conservation and exhibition challenges, and its new larger size Optium Museum Acrylic (OMA) and recycled OMA.
Integrated commercial solutions
A collaborative session titled ‘Enhancing Digital Collections with DAM & CMS’ will feature representatives from zetcom and Fotoware alongside Michael Schweller, Registrar and exhibition manager at ‘Liechtenstein. The Princely Collections’. The session explores the integration of Digital Asset Management (DAM) and Collection Management Systems (CMS) in enhancing the online experience of museum collections. It will feature the story of Clara Serena and how Liechtenstein. The Princely Collections have utilised technology to make artworks accessible to a global audience.
