Panel members drafted manifesto and curated youth event, selected from nearly 300 applicants across London boroughs.
The Migration Museum has revealed a new Young People’s Panel, and its 11 members are advising on events and engagement strategies ahead of its reopening.
The panel has been convened ahead of the museum’s new permanent location in the City of London. Moving from Lewisham, the museum is set to unveil its new purpose-built museum in 2028.
The museum said nearly 300 young people applied for a spot on its panel, all with connections to its new home in the City of London, the neighbouring Tower Hamlets, and its previous location in Lewisham.
The first phase of the Young People’s Panel took place in July 2026, during which its members drafted a manifesto for how it will work with and for young people, curated a new youth event, and suggested new ways to engage with younger visitors.
The second phase of the panel’s work is now underway, in which it is building an event for young people, working alongside the wider Migration Museum team to deliver the event itself in late 2026.
The panel is supported by City Bridge Foundation, the funding arm of The City of London Corporation’s charity, Bridge House Estates.
