Marcon provides fit out for new Gobbins Cliff Path visitor centre

Marcon played a key role in fitting out the interactive exhibition at one of Northern Ireland’s most distinctive trails

Gobbins Path, Islandmagee, County Antrim has been restored after being closed for over 60 years and it is hoped that it will again become one of the area’s favourite tourist attractions.

The new visitor centre at the restored cliff-hanging tourist attraction contains an exhibition designed by leading interpretive designers Tandem. The exhibition that tells the history of the famous cliff walk that was initially built in 1902 and the story of how it has been restored to its former glory. It also provides an insight into the local wildlife that populates the rugged Country Antrim coastline.

Marcon was the main contractor for the fit-out of the new exhibition within the visitor centre, which consisted of the manufacture and installation of set works, graphics, interactives, AV hardware and AV software.

Marcon was also responsible for software development for the interactive screens, production of video footage and the environmental soundscape package. This project adds to the range of museum and heritage projects completed by Marcon, having completed iconic schemes for Titanic Belfast, Down County Museum, Navan Fort, Carrickfergus Castle and the Guildhall.
