Would you like to work for the leading Charity in the heritage sector? If so, we would love to hear from you and for you to join us at English Heritage. We are looking for a motivated Manager to join our team at Marble Hill. This is a full-time role, working 36 hours per week on a rota basis, to include evening and weekend working.

As well as a house with significant collections, the site is also a public park which is open 365 days a year, with sports facilities including sports pitches and changing rooms which are open from 7am to dusk. The site has recently seen a hugely successful multi-million pound lottery funded project.

No history background? No problem. What is important to us is a passion for people and excellent customer service. We are looking for a Manager who enjoys working alongside their team and understands what it takes to deliver an engaging visitor experience to a diverse audience. You will play your part in helping visitors experience more of England’s captivating past and preserve it for generations to come.

We are the organisation that looks after England’s most important buildings and monuments, making sure our country’s amazing history is available for everyone to enjoy. From world-famous prehistoric sites to grand medieval castles, Roman forts to a Cold War bunker, we bring the history of England to life.

As Marble Hill Manager, you will know what makes a great visitor experience and will be able to inspire your team to deliver this across your site. Through leading by example and coaching your team, you’ll optimise every opportunity to generate income, achieving all site performance targets including retail and food & beverage. You will also ensure the site and facilities are clean and presentable.

We are looking for someone who can bring their experience of providing excellent customer service within a leisure and tourism environment and strong staff supervisory skills as well as being able to work independently. You will be able to demonstrate exceptional organisational skills and also be a confident communicator, having strong interpersonal skills with both visitors and colleagues. This is a hands-on role, and a lot of your time will be focused on visitors. You’ll also be involved in engaging the local community with what’s happening on site as well as ensuring that the site itself and its assets are safe and secure.

We are looking for a candidate with demonstrable leaderships skills combined with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across English Heritage to deliver an excellent experience for all that come to Marble Hill, either as a visitor to the house and cafe, recreationally in the Park or as a volunteer. External relationships are key to the success of this role and you will be a confident communicator and partnership creator. You will have experience in working in visitor attractions with volunteers and leading a team to deliver great experiences, safety and achieve proposed budgets.
