The AI-powered character, currently under development for the Kent attraction, will have multilingual conversations about the character’s life and cultural impact.
Leeds Castle in Kent is set to launch a technology-powered attraction featuring what is being described as an ‘AI’ version of Queen Eleanor of Castile.
The attraction will see a life-sized representation of Queen Eleanor, wife of Edward I, which it is claimed will be capable of allowing visitors to converse with the representation of the 13th-century royal.
Queen Eleanor will be capable of engaging with guests in Spanish, English, and French – languages she likely spoke during her lifetime – and will provide insights into her life, cultural influence, and role as a patron of the arts.
The interactive experience is part of Leeds Castle’s ‘Moments in Time programme.
“AI Queen Eleanor of Castile continues to offer an unparalleled opportunity to enhance visitor engagement at Leeds Castle,” said Sue Prichard, Head Curator at Leeds Castle.
“Eleanor was not only a devoted queen but also a champion of the arts and culture, transforming Leeds Castle into a family home inspired by the Castilian Court. By merging cutting-edge AI technology with her enduring love story, we’re creating a unique, interactive
experience that will captivate visitors and make history more accessible than ever before.”
Babita Devi, Chief Strategy Officer of SKC Games Studio said “through her conversations, guests will be able to connect with history in ways never before possible, making this an exciting step for both cultural heritage and AI innovation.”
The AI’s development is expected to be completed in the coming months.
