More details of its the three year delivery plan are announced as part of its 10 year strategy, Heritage 2033.
The National Lottery Heritage Fund has unveiled details of the more immediate plans in its 10-year strategy, Heritage 2033.
Its first delivery plan sets out how, across the next three years, it aims to invest £870 million via National Lottery Grants for Heritage and a further £140m in strategic initiatives.
In partnership with departments in England and Wales, it will also distribute more than £43m in government funding in 2023–2024 alone.
The funding plans amount to a total £1 billion between this year and 2026.
Updates to its strategy include an increase in the upper limit of its National Lottery Grants for Heritage to £10 million, first announced earlier this year.

It has also announced that from January 2024 its lower threshold will rise to £10,000, with December 2023 marking the last applications for grants under £10,000. It said it is “exploring options to deliver grants under £10,000 through other organisations and initiatives”.
From 2024 it will open the first applications for “streamlined” grants from £10,000 to £10m under Heritage 2033, with new guidance and application forms.
Other approaching updates include the announcement of the first nine of 20 locations across the UK where NLHF will invest through its Place initiative, expected in autumn.
In winter it plans to detail its partnership to deliver urban nature recovery through its Nature Cities and Towns initiative.
Earlier this year, Eilish McGuinness, Chief Executive of the National Lottery Heritage Fund wrote in Advisor, “[Heritage 2033] simplifies and clarifies our ambitions and will help us to support a huge range of heritage projects that connect people and communities to the UK’s heritage.”
