Herefordshire Museums & Galleries seeks local designers for electric van wrap competition with £200 prize and July deadline for mobile museum project.
Herefordshire Museums & Galleries has launched a competition inviting local residents to design the vehicle wrap for its new Museum on the Move electric van.
The initiative forms part of a pop-up museum programme that will deliver objects, displays and creative activities to festivals, schools, towns, villages and community events across Herefordshire from autumn 2025.
The Museum on the Move programme has received funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund and will operate whilst Hereford Museum undergoes redevelopment. The electric van will serve as both transport for the pop-up displays and a visible representation of the programme as it travels throughout the county.
‘For Us All’: Herefordshire museums and galleries reveals new identities
Participants are being asked to draw inspiration from Herefordshire’s art, collections, culture, landscape, stories and communities. The winning design will be professionally produced as a complete vehicle wrap.
The competition winner will receive a £200 prize and see their design travelling across Herefordshire when the van begins its tours later in 2025.
Damian Etheraads, Museum and Art Gallery Lead at Herefordshire Council, said: “This is a brilliant opportunity for local creativity to shine. We can’t wait to see the ideas that come in and to take the winning design out on the road as part of Museum on the Move.”
Entries close on 27th July 2025. Additional creative competitions aimed at schools and community groups are expected to launch later during the summer as part of the broader Museum on the Move programme.1.
