The Blackpool attraction has been working with Lancashire based construction firm, Conlon, who are laying the groundwork for the museum.

Originally planned for a 2021 opening, construction began in 2021 and doors were last planned to open in April 2023. The museum now says it will open in 2024.

The upcoming museum will be located near the Blackpool Tower, on the first floor of the new Sands Venue Resort Hotel and Spa on the Blackpool Promenade.

Items expected in the museum’s collection are the famous bowler hat worn by Stan Laurel, a prop used by the comedic magician Tommy Cooper, and various mementos from the Tower Circus – an amusement venue located at the foot of the Blackpool Tower that originated in 1894.
