Joe Brook will leave the museum after 10 months in the role which began during its move to a new location

The Director of The Peace Museum in West Yorkshire is to step down from the role after 10 months, the museum has announced.

Joe Brook joined the museum in February, having previously served as Head of Creative Studios at National Museums Liverpool.

Brook joined the museum as it was moving to a new location at Salts Mill in Saltaire. After a 4-year hiatus, the Museum reopened to the public in August and has since welcomed over 17,000 visitors.

Brooke was appointed while the museum was moving into the mill, in an ex-warehouse space.

The museum said Brook had “worked tirelessly with our staff and contractors to transform this into the amazing exhibition that we have today”.

Brook, who is now listed as Head of Scenic at Sterling Event Group on LinkedIn, said in a post: “I want to thank my wonderful, talented, funny & beautiful team for making the project a pleasure, and I will miss them all terribly.

“I cannot wait to see what the future holds and I wish them all the very best – its a gem of a museum and I am sure it will go far with their talent, drive and passion.”

The Peace Museum said in a statement it “thanks Joe for all that he has achieved. We wish him well in his future career.”

The museum has been approached for comment on a successor.
