Dr Giuseppe Albano MBE will step down in May after three years in the role
The director of the Freud Museum London is to step down from the role in May, the museum has announced.
Dr Giuseppe Albano MBE joined the museum in 2022, after a role as Curator and Director of the Keats-Shelley House.
In an announcement, the museum said Giuseppe had “advanced the Museum’s vision to open up the legacy of Sigmund and Anna Freud to broader audiences and developed the Museum’s innovative exhibition and public programme offer, including overseeing the transformation of the Museum’s Learning Suite, Video, and Exhibition Rooms.”
The museum said it was “grateful for Giuseppe’s contributions and we wish him well”.
Recruitment is expected to begin soon for its next director, ahead of preparations for its 40th anniversary in 2026.
The historic house museum in London was the final home of Sigmund Freud, and his daughter Anna, a pioneer of child psychoanalysis.
The heart of the house is Sigmund Freud’s study and his famous psychoanalytic couch. Freud spent the last year of his life at the house and died in his study at Maresfield Gardens NW3.
