Celebrate the life and work of playwright Bernard Shaw: Monday 17 – Friday 21 June, 2013

His work is known to millions across the world but this month an exciting conference will bring the wit and energy of Bernard Shaw back to the tiny Hertfordshire village that was his home.

Shaw’s Corner in Ayot St Lawrence was the home of playwright Bernard Shaw for forty-four years.

From 17 – 21 June, it will host a series of talks, plays and music as part of an historic international conference dedicated to his work.

‘Shaw At Home’ is organised jointly by the National Trust and the UK and International Shaw Societies. It will be based at Shaw’s Corner, with one conference day in London.

Speakers at the conference will include Sir Michael Holroyd, eminent biographer and president of The Shaw Society; Michael Billington, drama critic of The Guardian; writer Stanley Weintraub; and journalist, writer and Guardian columnist Polly Toynbee.

As well as lively talks and debates about Shaw’s work, there will be an exhibition of his photography, a concert of his favourite music and the performance of several of his plays.

Tickets are available for the full conference or for individual events. For details visit the website or telephone 01438 820307.
