The app is designed to allow users to enhance their visit, or to explore its collections from their device
The British Museum has revealed a new app with information on its collections to assist in planning a visit and access more information once inside.
Audiovisual content, including commentary from the Museum’s curatorial team, is included about more than 250 objects in the collection alongside their location within the museum.
Containing audio introductions to 65 of the Museum’s galleries, the app allows users to explore its collection by culture and theme.
The app also features a self-guided journey around some of the galleries with an interactive map feature, which the museum said would allow users to access its collections even without a visit.
Hartwig Fischer, Director of the British Museum The British Museum Audio app “puts extraordinary objects and dozens of fascinating galleries in the palm of your hand and allows people to engage with the Museum both before, during and after their visit.”
The app is free to download, with an in-app purchase costing £4.99 per language. Its themed tour per language costs between £1.99–£2.99.
