The Buckinghamshire attraction secures £2.4m from MEND, one of 29 recipients of maintenance, accessibility, and infrastructure funding.

The government has allocated £24.8 million to 29 museums across England in the fourth round of the Museum Estate and Development Fund (MEND).

The fund, administered by Arts Council England, is available to accredited museums that do not receive direct government funding.

The combined funding is £2.2m larger than the £22.6m allocated in 2024.

The largest recipient is the London Museum of Water and Steam, which has been allocated £2.6m.

Closely following is Bletchley Park in Buckinghamshire, which has been allocated £2.4m.

The funding is intended for maintenance work, accessibility improvements, and infrastructure upgrades. According to the government, the investment will help museums protect collections, improve visitor facilities, and develop income-generating opportunities.

More details on the specific projects for which the organisations have secured funding are to be announced.

This latest tranche of funding is part of the Government’s £270m cultural funding programme ‘Arts Everywhere Fund’.

An earlier version of this article incorrectly stated that Bletchley Park was the largest recipient of the funding. This has been corrected to reflect that the London Museum of Water and Steam received the largest share.
