Bletchley Park announces new Chair of the Board of Trustees

The experienced technology sector figure joins the organisation next month

Bletchley Park Trust, the charity that looks after heritage attraction Bletchley Park, has a new Chair of the Board of Trustees.

Jacqueline de Rojas CBE will join the trust from next month, bringing with her extensive experience in the technology sector.

She is a board member and President Emeritus at technology sector trade association techUK and is Non-Executive Director at property platform Rightmove plc, IT consulting company FDM Group PLC and global enterprise software company IFS.

In 2018, she was acknowledged in the Queen’s New Year Honours list with a CBE for Services to International Trade in Technology.

The appointments will make de Rojas the first female to take on the role for the Trust, the once secret hub for codebreaking during World War Two.

She takes over the role from Sir David Brown, a British engineer and industrialist, who is retiring from the role after nearly six years.

Iain Standen, Chief Executive Officer of the Bletchley Park Trust said de Rojas’ “experience in the technology sector, strategic mind, and engaging leadership style will be enormous assets to the Trust”.

Standen continued:”I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the outgoing Chair, Sir David Brown. Sir David joined the Board in early 2019 and quickly made his mark. His great experience was invaluable to the board and the executive team and helped the continual improvement of the Board’s process and procedures.

On her appointment, de Rojas said: “Promoting diversity and inclusion in the technology sector has always been at my core. It is the only real way to ensure we design a world that works for the many, not just the few.

“After 30 years in the technology industry, arriving at the home of codebreaking feels like coming full circle. It is an opportunity to learn from the past while ensuring the history and significance of Bletchley Park remains today.”
