The committed funding by the previous Government’s UK Levelling Up fund, to support the redesign of its Scottish Design Galleries, is being withdrawn
Millions in government funding which had been allocated to the Victoria & Albert Dundee is to be withdrawn.
Part of the previous government’s Levelling Up plan, V&A Dundee was among six cultural venues it allocated specific funding, under the banner of ‘Nationally Significant Projects’.
It was to be allocated £2.6m as announced in the Spring budgets to capital to support the redesign of its Scottish Design Galleries.
In this week’s budget, the government had said it was ‘minded to’ rethink the allocation to these cultural organisations.
The V&A Dundee has now confirmed that funding has been withdrawn.
“This decision comes as the new UK Government is making significant savings. A consultation period with all impacted projects will now take place and we remain committed to transforming these galleries in the future,” it told Advisor.
