Zubr: Augmented and Virtual Reality Studio
About Zubr
Your creative, inventive and trusted technology partner.
At Zubr, our virtual experiences redefine space and time to accelerate audience engagement, enhance learning, and solve real-world problems with impact. Rooted in authenticity, curiosity, imagination and innovation, we’re a specialist augmented and virtual reality studio creating high-quality, accessible, and audience-centred immersive content for a wide range of sectors.
Whether we’re working in education, entertainment, training or future visioning, research and experimentation are at the forefront of our process. Our dedicated team works closely with subject specialists to develop authentic XR experiences that inform, inspire and transport users to a different time or place.
Our work in the museums and heritage sector highlights how immersive technology can complement and enhance traditional forms of engagement. We sensitively interpret collections and narratives, using AR and VR to bring stories to life – whether integrated into exhibitions, used on personal devices, or delivered through location-specific hardware.
With over 500 successful projects completed to date, we pride ourselves on being approachable, responsive and deeply experienced. From initial concept development through to scripting, 3D modelling, app creation, real-world calibration, and delivery – whether via app stores or in-venue installations – we manage the whole process in-house.
Zubr works internationally with a diverse client-base, ranging from museums, archives, libraries and universities to artists, local councils, theatres, tourism boards, and corporate clients such as government organisations and businesses. This diversity fuels our creativity and allows us to build immersive experiences that are intuitive, informative and engaging – no matter the audience.
In 2017, we expanded into XR hardware design to address the need for a simple yet engaging route into immersive content – particularly for young children, older people, technophobes, and individuals who prefer not to download or stream content with their own devices. Our award-nominated AR/VR binoculars, launched in 2022, provide inclusive, device-free access to immersive content. Clients can showcase their own 3D content through the binoculars, or alternatively, Zubr can develop bespoke digital experiences tailored to accompany the hardware. Since their launch, the binoculars have gained significant traction, with installations completed across the UK, US and Europe – highlighting our distinctive capabilities in both software and hardware innovation.
Recent Zubr projects include: the AR recreation of Margam Castle for Margam Country Park; the Vauxhall Gardens AR trail and social media filters; and 3D reconstructions of Revolutionary battleground sites across South Carolina’s Liberty Trail, in partnership with the American Battlefield Trust.
