About GEMA

GEMA is a leading European studio for the conception and production of museums, exhibitions, and immersive cultural experiences. Founded over 20 years ago in Porto, Portugal, we have delivered more than 80 museums worldwide across 10+ countries, and we are just getting started.

We are a multidisciplinary team of creative directors, architects, designers, content producers, software developers, and AV engineers, all working under one roof. This allows us to control the entire process, from first concept to opening day. We do not just design experiences, we build them.

Our expertise spans scenography and spatial design, custom artworks and graphic production, lighting design, audiovisual integration, immersive rooms, projection mapping, holographic displays, augmented and virtual reality, multitouch surfaces, and interactive games and installations.

Our portfolio includes World of Wine (WOW), Portugal’s largest private cultural investment, including the Wine Experience, Cork Experience, and Chocolate Story; Expo Dubai 2020 Pavilion; FIFA Immersive Box; AH Amália Museum; Pelé Experience; Brazilian Jewish Museum; Castello di Thiene; Gallery of Biodiversity at the Museum of Natural History; Museum of Discoveries; SEA LIFE; Óbidos Museum; Porto Region Across the Ages; National Railway Museum; Calém Cellars Museum; Chaves Roman Thermal Waters Museum; Wondersenses; and NEONIA Experience, among many others.

We believe every space has a story to tell. Our job is to make visitors feel it, through scenography, technology, art, and narrative working together. We place ourselves in the visitor’s shoes to create experiences that are emotionally engaging, educationally rewarding, and built to last.
