Introduction
The Marketing Officer will support the smooth running of the Castle Howard’s marketing and PR activity.
The Marketing Officer will promote Castle Howard’s House, Gardens, Adventure Playground, events, food
and beverage offers, retail offers, and more, to local audiences, tourists, press and stakeholders, with
campaign planning, delivery and evaluation, alongside social media content creation, writing, posting and
reporting. The marketing department is fast-paced and extremely varied, with the opportunity to work on a
vast range of projects.
This is an exciting opportunity to play an essential role in Castle Howard’s marketing team, who have won
two national awards for campaigns in the last three years at the Museum and Heritage Awards and
Association of Cultural Enterprises awards
This is a part-time role, with the opportunity to be flexible on working days. This role is based in the Estate
Office at Castle Howard. The Marketing Officer joins a freelance Marketing Specialist in the Marketing
Team, with some responsibilities shared as agreed with the Marketing and PR Manager.
Job Purpose:
To contribute to the Marketing and PR department with marketing campaign planning, delivery, social
media content creation, and evaluation.
Duties & Responsibilities
Marketing
• Assist with all marketing campaigns for the Visitor Attraction and wider Castle Howard Estate.
• Coordinate specific marketing campaigns as assigned by the Marketing & PR Manager, designed to
meet sales and footfall targets.
• Keep the Castle Howard website up to date and produce content, including written copy.
• Ensure Castle Howard listings appear on third party websites.
• Support with the content distribution calendar, and work with the Marketing & PR Manager to
deliver regular e-shots and e-newsletters.
• Support with the social media strategy, schedule, and calendar, including creating, writing and
scheduling content for Castle Howard’s channels.
• Support with photoshoots, video shoots, and other content-development
•Work closely with all Castle Howard teams to understand the broad offer and goals of all departments, and support Retail, Food and
Beverage and the Lakeside Holiday Park in reaching their sales targets.•
Support the Sales and Partnerships Manager in marketing to groups, by producing literature and content aimed at this market.•
Occasionally attend trade fairs, press, and business networking events.

Work closely with media buyers, agencies, advertisers, and other stakeholders.
•
Play a role in the life of the company and to work across departments to develop a positive and engaged organisational culture.
PR
•
Assist with producing press releases and media packs.
•
Liaise with PR agencies and provide up to date information and listings.
•
Assist with FAM visits for front of house teams from hotels in the local area.
•
Help to chaperone any filming, radio, or media visits.
Membership
•
Coordinate marketing the Castle Howard Membership scheme with multiple annual campaigns, including leading campaigns to attract new members, and retain and steward existing members.

Evaluate and run reports on membership.
Evaluation
•
Analyse data and metrics to provide the business with insights and reports that will influence decision making and help understand our audiences.
•
Monitor, run reports, and regularly evaluate the marketing department’s activities and campaigns.
•
Undertake market research exercises as required.
Customer Service
•
Be a friendly and approachable contact for general visitor queries by phone, email and on social media platforms.
•
Undertake other duties that may reasonably be required by the Marketing & PR Manager
Person Specification
Essential
•
Minimum of two year’s marketing experience.
•
Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to devise creative campaigns that land with prospective audiences.
•
An interest or curiosity for Visitor Attractions, Culture or Heritage.
•
Proven experience in creating and delivering integrated marketing campaigns which achieve results.
•
Time management and prioritisation skills.
•
An eye for design and excellent attention to detail.
•
Experience using CRM systems, or ticketing systems.
•
Experience managing websites and using email marketing software.
•
Experience of creating social media content and using social media platforms.
•
Experience using Google Analytics, Google Search Console and other digital, SEO and AEO related tools.
•
Strong IT skills and experience of using basic Microsoft products.
•
Strong numeracy skills with some experience managing budgets.
•
Motivated to achieve positive results and targets.
•
A strong team player, able to communicate with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels.
