Burgh House in Hampstead, London NW3 is seeking to appoint a new Chair of the Burgh House CIO, following the departure after nine years of service from Sir Nigel Carrington. We also seek to appoint two new Trustees following the appointment of Chair.
Job Description
A beautiful Grade 1 Listed Queen Anne and early Georgian historic house in Hampstead, Burgh House is a registered charity and Accredited Museum offering a free public programme of art and historical exhibitions, and many cultural and community events. Its cafe and garden are a local attraction. Burgh House also has a busy schedule of private and public hire, being a popular venue for weddings, concerts, filming, lectures and talks, etc.
Burgh House welcomes candidates with commitment to arts, heritage, the local community, and good governance. The Chair will have Charity governance experience, the public profile to advocate for the House, and a strong network from which to fundraise and utilise generally as appropriate. We particularly welcome Trustee candidates with marketing and PR, historic building management, and digital experience.

Chair
The Chair will have Charity governance experience, with the public profile to advocate and fundraise for the House. The Chair will have a wide network which s/he can utilise as appropriate for the benefit of Burgh House. Candidates could bring a wide range of professional expertise and a commitment to arts and heritage.

Candidates for Trustee could bring a wide range of professional expertise and a commitment to arts and heritage. We particularly welcome people with marketing/ PR, HR, historic building management, or digital experience.
Job Responsibilities
Burgh House is led by the Board of Trustees. The Board is responsible for the strategic leadership of the charity and for ensuring that the organisation delivers its charitable objectives; is in good financial shape and complies with charity law.
