Keith Ludeman OBE will step down next year after 12 years on the London museum’s board
The chair of the board of London Transport Museum is to step down from the role after nine years.
Keith Ludeman OBE will step down at the end of the financial year on 31 March 2027.
Ludeman joined the museum’s board in 2014, and became Chair in 2017. In 2025 he was awarded an OBE in the King’s Birthday Honours in recognition of his service to the transport industry and his contribution to London Transport Museum.
Ludeman OBE said: “Being Chair of London Transport Museum has been one of the greatest privileges of my professional life. I have had the opportunity to work alongside an exceptional Board of Trustees, dedicated Museum staff, supporters, volunteers and partners who share a commitment to preserving and celebrating London’s rich transport heritage while inspiring future generations through education and engagement.
“As I look back over my 10 years as Chair, I am confident that the Museum is now very well placed to continue its important work.”
Elizabeth McKay, director and CEO of London Transport Museum, described Ludeman as “a brilliant Chair and a passionate champion of the Museum’s charitable purpose.
“Keith leaves the Museum in a position of strength, with record audiences, ambitious plans for the future and a clear vision for the Museum’s next chapter. On behalf of our staff, volunteers, trustees and myself, I would like to thank him for his outstanding service and contribution.”
The Board has begun the process of recruiting Ludeman’s successor.
