Custom-designed vending machine selling Morris-inspired products supports exhibitions and educational programmes.
William Morris Gallery has launched a custom-designed museum vending machine as a new revenue stream to support its operations as a free museum and historic site.
Wrapped in Morris’s Seaweed design, the vending machine was first launched at the Gallery as part of its 75th anniversary.
The installation has now been installed at Waltham Forest Town Hall and will be moving to other locations within the borough next year.
The vending machine sells a range of products including greeting cards, notebook, sketchbooks, glasses cases, leather purses, umbrellas, William Morris at Home hand creams, pouches and tote bags. All products are also available to buy from William Morris Gallery Shop online and in-store.

Samantha Enstone, Managing Director at William Morris Gallery, said: “William Morris believed in bringing art into everyday life – and what better way to have fun than with a vending machine packed with beautiful, useful things? We’re thrilled by the public’s reaction so far. It’s a fun, creative, and accessible way for people to engage with Morris’s legacy and support the Gallery at the same time.”
Housed in the former home of William Morris, William Morris Gallery is dedicated to preserving and promoting the legacy of Britain’s most influential designer, writer, and socialist.
In 2023, the Herbert Art Gallery & Museum installed a repurposed vending machine offering artwork by local artists, as well as art kits, equipment and games.
