V&A South Kensington Fashion Gallery to undergo major transformation and reopen in Spring 2027 as ‘The Burberry Gallery’, with support from Burberry

The V&A South Kensington is to transform its Fashion Gallery, before reopening Spring 2027, with support from fashion brand Burberry.

The redesigned and renamed ‘Burberry Gallery’ will display the organisation’s designated National Collection of  fashion, with plans  “aiming to inspire visitors and enabling them to experience fashion in innovative and exciting ways”.

The V&A Fashion Gallery has not been structurally redeveloped since 1962. It will close on Sunday the 4th May 2025 to begin the redevelopment. Access to the V&A’s fashion collection continues to be available at V&A East Storehouse, which is set to open at the end of May 2025.

Tristram Hunt, Director of the V&A said the partnership with Burberry “allows us to share the V&A’s incredible collections in new and accessible ways and, with Burberry, support education and craftsmanship across the country”.

Joshua Schulman, Burberry Chief Executive Officer, added: “We are so thrilled to come together with the V&A team to celebrate the rich history of our industry and to develop an immersive space that will inspire creative minds for generations to come.”
