The Heritage Management Organization (HERITΛGE) empowers heritage professionals worldwide to transform cultural assets from fragile remnants of the past into dynamic drivers of learning, community identity, and sustainable development.
Since its founding, HERITΛGE has trained more than 4,000 practitioners from over 120 countries. Our programs focus on the essential skills and best practices of heritage management—delivered independently of project-specific agendas. HERITΛGE is privately funded, non-governmental, and operates from offices in Greece, The Gambia, and the USA.
Training Opportunities
• 3–6 Day Workshops (online & in-person): Intensive, focused programs designed for busy professionals who need practical, expert-led training in core aspects of heritage preservation and management.
• Field Schools: Hands-on, in-depth training in community engagement and heritage digitization, held in sites of high cultural significance in Greece. Suitable for both experienced professionals and students entering the field.
• ECTS Certificate in Digital Tools: Delivered in cooperation with HOGENT University (Belgium), this 30 ECTS program provides academic certification. Participants gain practical skills in acquiring, processing, and publishing spatial data, with direct applications for heritage management. The course is primarily online, complemented by on-site fieldwork in Greece.
HERITΛGE strengthens heritage ecosystems worldwide through partnerships and targeted initiatives. Our HerMaP Africa program supports small heritage projects and builds capacity in Ethiopia, Ghana, and Rwanda with the generous support of the Mellon Foundation. HerMaP Gambia, co-funded by the European Union, advances The Gambia’s heritage, tourism, and traditional sports sectors. At the same time, HERITΛGE leads efforts in digital transformation, driving innovation across Europe’s cultural heritage sector while fostering heritage resilience on a global scale, including in Ukraine, Turkey, Iraq, Yemen, and beyond.
Our Values
